You Oughta Know

June 29, 2010

I want to be this song. I want to be as fierce as this song. Powerful and strong. Alanis Morisette is such a legend. I didn’t appreciate her during her era. I was just a kid then. But my brother had complete collection of her albums, back when discs are not known yet and you need to turn the casette tapes into side B to be able to hear the rest of the songs.

I adore Alanis. It’s as if her songs are the words I cannot utter myself.

“Does she know how you told me you’d hold me
Until you died, till you died
But you’re still alive”

“It was a slap in the face how quickly I was replaced
Are you thinking of me when you fuck her?”

Cause the joke that you laid on the bed that was me
And I’m not gonna fade
As soon as you close your eyes and you know it
And every time I scratch my nails down someone else’s back
I hope you feel it…well can you feel it”

This song is angry. I am angry.

And to you, read the words and… f**k you!
